&Analytical Specialist Position
Novus International
R&D Center (Beijing) is seeking a Research & Analytical
Specialist to conduct fundamental and applied research in
the areas of animal feed and feed additives.
Key
Responsibilities:
· Serve as a key link between Novus headquarters’ analytical
team and local china team.
· Coordinate and monitor internal/external trials at contract
facilities.
· Perform chemical analysis under minimal supervision on
raw materials and finished products using various analytical
techniques such as the GC, HPLC, GC-MS, OSI, AOM, FTIR, TBARS
etc;.
· Select/determine appropriate analytical methods, scientific
strategy and priorities for research projects; evaluate and
document new procedures and validate new analysis methods.
· Keep detailed lab notebooks; follow all relevant ISO procedures
and maintain appropriate records accordingly;
· Initiate and follow-up on confidential and material release
agreements
· Order supplies and equipment and maintain analytical chemistry
laboratory and instruments
· Complete tasks in a timely manner and work independently
or as a team member
· Following written and/or oral instructions.
· Organize samples to meet shipping and production schedules;
interact with other teams such as technical services, R&D,
regulatory, marketing and sales.
· Design experiments using statistical tools and have a working
knowledge of statistics and be able to interpret data.
· Analyze data from internal and external trials. Interpret
and communicate results of research projects to supervisor
or others as requested. Write various professional documents
(i.e., protocols, SOPs and specification sheets).
Other Responsibilities
· Support QC function for commercial operations as requested,
by providing a variety of analytical chemistry activities.
This includes sampling raw materials, chemical analysis, instrument
maintenance and troubleshooting, and project reporting. This
also includes communication with operations and Customer Service
to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Eventually provide leadership to laboratory technicians
support staffs
· Ensure quality execution of complex, multi-disciplinary
projects including design, data summary and interpretation.
· Interact with customers to address technical or regulatory
questions and provide solutions to problems.
· Identify state-of-the-art findings and technologies for
protection by patents.
· Demonstrate independent judgment in developing methods,
techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on
new assignments.
· Writes and conducts exploratory research protocols, both
independently and as agreed upon by the R&D director
Basic Requirements:
· The successful candidate must have minimum B.S (M.S preferred)
in chemistry, biochemistry, food Science, animal science or
related fields with strong background in research with industrial
exposure. Two to three years of working experience preferred.
· A Hands-on individual with passion to laboratory and animal
sampling work and high level of scientific curiosity and desire
to explore and innovate
· Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices. Strong analytical
skills (HPLC, GC & GCMS) and experience performing data
analysis using computer statistical packages preferred.
· Working level language skills in Chinese and English, including
reading, writing, speaking and listening.
· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication
skills with an ability to communicate scientifically
· Excellent time management and organization skills, a high
energy level, and a sense of commitment to assure obligations
are met.
· Capability to simultaneously manage several projects efficiently
· Capable of setting priorities to complete assignments and
achieve goals on a timely basis.
· Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills.
· Advanced PC knowledge, MS Office, Internet Navigation and
Stats software.
· Reliable, self-motivated, self-developing, flexible, well
organized; To be able to plan in advance
· Must be able to maintain confidentiality and protect intellectual
property
· Ability to work under pressure; maintain a professional
demeanor under pressure
· Have a strong problem solving skills, and be capable of
working independently or in a collaborative setting. Be able
to interact well with others in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:
· Capable of providing training on a limited basis to subordinates
or peers
· Knowledge of animal science and experience in experimental
design and conduct.
· Excellent Scientific Skills in experiment design, data
collection, statistics and technical presentation skill.
· Excellent communication skills with audiences of divergent
experience in animal agriculture and desire to work within
a multidisciplinary team
· Be able to conduct outside research trials that provide
data in support of Novus product growth and development.
· ISO experience desirable, but not required.
· High level of comfort with conducting intellectual research
using multiple resources including research libraries, electronic
media, research publications, and various research-related
documents.
· Possess driver license and be able to work flexible hours
Working Conditions:
Normal-working conditions for our Laboratory at Beijing. Close
contacts with farm animals and animal blood samples are necessary.
Exposure to chemicals in a well ventilated, temperature controlled
facility. Appropriate personal safety equipment is issued
and required.
